Volunteering in the Lower Columbia River

The Estuary Partnership works with students and volunteers to restore, monitor and maintain riverside and wetland habitats. Seasonal volunteer opportunities include planting native trees and shrubs. On-going opportunities include removing invasive plants, monitoring water quality, maintaining restoration sites, and cleaning up island and shoreline habitats. See our current Volunteer Opportunities.

The goals of our Volunteer Program are to help involve people in the preservation, protection and restoration of lower Columbia River resources, give citizens a sense of community and accomplishment, increase understanding of the importance of natural resources, and help build personal stewardship for natural resource protection.

The Estuary Partnership engages volunteers in a variety of projects.

The Management Plan recognizes the importance volunteers can play in protecting and restoring the lower Columbia River as well, most specifically in Action 25. Action 25: Coordinate volunteer monitoring programs and create or coordinate volunteer opportunities on the lower river. Volunteers also help the Estuary Partnership implement portions of Actions 4-6 and Action 11
