| Volunteering in the Lower Columbia River
Through volunteer projects, the Estuary Partnership helps involve people in the preservation, protection and restoration of lower Columbia River resources, gives citizens a sense of community and accomplishment, increases understanding of the importance of natural resources, and helps build personal stewardship for natural resource protection.
The Management Plan recognizes the importance volunteers can play in protecting and restoring the lower Columbia River as well, most specifically in Action 25.
Action 25: Coordinate volunteer monitoring programs and create or coordinate volunteer opportunities on the lower river.
Volunteers also help the Estuary Partnership implement portions of Actions 4-6 and Action 11. The Partnership works with students and volunteers to restore, monitor and maintain critical riparian and wetland habitat by removing invasive plant species, planting native trees and shrubs, and educating the public on the benefits of conserving and restoring native habitat.
The Estuary Partnership engages volunteers in a variety of projects.
