Restoration Inventory
Over time, a great deal of restoration work has taken place in the lower Columbia River. However, since no organization attempted to track restoration projects, the size, location, focus, and status of projects in the lower Columbia River was unknown.
One of the initial elements of the Estuary Partnership’s Habitat Restoration Program was to develop a GIS based project database and an inventory of major restoration projects. While a work in progress that continues to grow, the Restoration Inventory has already helped the Estuary Partnership and its partners more clearly understand the amount and type of restoration work taking place in the lower Columbia River.
The Restoration Inventory Map identifies most major restoration projects initiated from 1999 on. A variety of organizations and agencies have spearheaded the projects which all lie within the historic floodplain of the lower Columbia River.
If you know of a sizeable project missing from the map, please contact the Estuary Partnership’s Habitat Restoration Coordinator Evan Haas. We are interested in learning about it.
