Teacher Workshops

Teacher Workshops for Adventurous Elementary School Teachers
Estuary Partnership teacher workshops focus on local ecosystems, the plants and animals within them, and the local geology that comprise them. Workshops help teachers develop investigation and inquiry techniques that can be completed in local natural areas. Teachers learn how to develop a unit that contains outdoor experiences, what to consider when taking students outside, how to conduct field work , and examples of pre- and post- field work activities that enhance the field work and link it back to classroom math and writing. Participants receive a notebook filled with activities that can be easily implemented in the classroom and complemented in the field. Activities emphasize plant and animal adaptation and classification. Activities are tied to Oregon state standards and Washington Essential Academic Learning Requirements and Grade Level Expectations.
