Regional Activities
The Lower Columbia River Estuary Partnership encompasses urban and rural, up river and downriver, and Oregon and Washington, across 146 miles of the lower Columbia River from Bonneville Dam to the Pacific Ocean. It’s a broad geography that encompasses nine counties and more than 25 cities.
Additionally, many factors that influence the lower Columbia River originate from outside the study area. For example, the river’s flow depends in large part on weather, snow levels, and dam operations as far away as Canada.
The Estuary Partnership’s broad geography, and the cross watershed nature of so many Columbia River issues demand that the Estuary Partnership be involved in and occasionally take the lead in regional planning or species recovery efforts. Below are some of the major on-going regional activities whose geography includes the lower Columbia River. The Estuary Partnership’s involvement with each varies.
